First Floor Gallery

Located on the first floor, this space has played host to some of the most prestigious and imaginative events. Glittering award ceremonies, dinner dances, art exhibitions, product launches, wine tastings, interactive theatre sports, cocktail receptions and AGMs.

With large windows overlooking Courtenay Place, the area is open plan and spacious which makes it a perfect catering or trade-stand display area for conferences held in the Auditorium. It is also the venue for a changing visual arts programme by local artists.

The St James Theatre (Positively Wellington Venues) is delighted to have formed an alliance with the St James Gallery Trust. Our joint aim is to provide an alternative, affordable gallery space for both established and emerging artists from the Wellington region.

Admission is free and most work displayed is for sale. The Gallery is normally open Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, unless there are other events in the theatre which may mean these hours are subject to change at short notice. The exhibitions are open until late on all nights when there are performances.
