The leadership team of Positively Wellington Venues (PWV), headed up by CEO Glenys Coughlan, combines the heavy hitting background of commercial, performance, sales, marketing and operations experience needed to drive the combined growth of Wellington’s six key venues – formerly run as the Wellington Convention Centre and the St James Theatre Trust.
CEO – Glenys Coughlan
PWV’s CEO Glenys Coughlan is one of New Zealand’s most well regarded tourism and corporate management professionals. Prior to PWV, Glenys was most recently a director and shareholder of the Republic of Acumen, a large, privately owned full service marketing communications company. She also established Dazzle Events, which went on to deliver some of New Zealand’s most high profile events.
As CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand (TIANZ) from 1977 to 2001, Glenys championed the development of a ten-year strategy for the sustainable growth of New Zealand’s tourism industry and lead a range of industry advocacy programmes. Glenys has also held key management roles at Saatchi and Saatchi and Air New Zealand.
Currently on the board of both Tourism New Zealand and Positively Wellington Tourism, Glenys has held a host of key Government board directorships, including Te Papa, the Trade Liberalisation Network, Asia 2000, the Aviation, Tourism, Travel Training Organisation and the New Zealand Tourism Strategy Group (appointed by the Minister of Tourism).
